Omega "Ranchero 30 mm", Movement No. 17719974, Ref. CK 2996-61 SC, Cal. 285, 36 mm, circa 1961
A rare vintage wristwatch
Case: steel, push back, "Omega" buckle. Dial: black.
Inspired by the Railmaster, Seamaster 300- and Speedmaster models launched in 1957 which all featured black dials and arrow hands, the first Ranchero came on the market in 1958; it was to be the most competitively priced model of the 30 mm range. However, as the designation "Ranchero" translates as cowboy or stable boy, it is hardly surprising that the model was not well received in the Spanish-speaking regions – consequentially, its production run was very short. Today this makes the Ranchero a very rare model that sells for relatively high prices at auctions.
