Orfina was the original maker to produce the legendary matte black "Porsche Design" watches, which have nowadays reached cult status among collectors and watch lovers worldwide. This watch is the result of "Porsche Design" collaborating with Orfina and a magnificent embodiment of the German sportscar manufacturer’s philosophy: Funtionality meets aesthetics, while innovation meets timelessness. The highly coveted design classics with black dials featuring a red chronograph hand are styled after the dashboard of a car and come from the drawing board of "Porsche Design" founder Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, the father of the legendary Porsche 911, who established the eponymous design studio in 1972. Soon after he launched – in cooperation with watch brand Orfina - the "Chronograph I", which was an early example of the co-branding of a watch manufacturer and motorsports. The black stainless steel case with PVD coat was ahead of the times and lends the watch its timeless distinctive presence on the wrist. The watch is powered by the legendary manual-wind Lemania 1873, the chronograph movement, that was also used for the Omega Speedmaster Professional as Omega calibre 861 for the Apollo moon landing mission.
This Porsche Design chronograph is extremely rare and was, according to Orfina produced in a limited edition of only 250 pieces. More frequently available is the "Chronograph I" with automatic movement Lemania 5100 and day of the week and date display.
