A. Lange & Söhne Glashütte & Geneva, Movement No. 43572, Case No. 100084, 43 mm, 45 g, circa 1927
A very fine, extremely rare Glashuette dress watch
Case: 14k white gold, push back. Dial: silvered, Arabic "Art Deco" numerals. Movm.: 3/4 plate movement, gold screw compensation balance.
According to Reinhard Reichel, director of the watch museum in Glashütte, this timepiece is a horological rarity. It was produced entirely at the Lange branch in Geneva and delivered to Berlin in 1927, which means the watch is part of the very first series.
In "Klassik Uhren" volume 2/13 Wolfgang Stegemann discusses the Lange timepieces produced in Geneva on page 12: It must be stated that only the shipping records are available for the Swiss watches from Lange and not the production records, as for the timepieces made in Glashütte. This means that apparent errors in the shipping records cannot be checked against the production books - which is possible with the ALS, DUF and OLIW watches from the Lange production in Glashütte....
The errors in the shipping books most likely happened because some of the watches were delivered to the retailers directly from Switzerland.
