Lot 453

Patek Philippe & Co. à Genève, Movement No. 77041, Case No. 77041, Cal. 20''', 55 mm, 117 g, circa 1888
A Geneva hunting case pocket watch with an unusual Patek Philippe calibre, sold on February 20th, 1889 - with Patek Philippe extract from the archives
Case: 18k rose gold, engraved cartouche with monogram, engine-turned. Dial: enamel. Movm.: 1/2 plate movement, optionally keywind or crownwind, gold screw compensation balance.
Presumably this watch was originally intended for the American market - the construction of the movement reminds us strongly of the design the American company E. Howard Watch Co. in Boston regularly used. The company was very successful during that period of time.
