Ignatz Marenzeller Successors, Vienna, Height 595 mm, circa 1910
A Vienna half seconds precision regulator with rare Riefler half seconds N pendulum No. 664, DRP 100870 - 8 day power reserve
Case: mahogany. Dial: silvered. Movm.: trapezoid-shaped brass movement, up side down Graham escapement with adjustable steel pallets with inlaid sapphires, pendulum spring suspension.
A marvelous, small regulator in the style of classic Riefler or Strasser & Rohde precision pendulum clocks that was created as a master piece at the Karlstein horological school under the guidance of Anton Baronek, a former pupil in 1899 who went on to become a technical instructor at the school. In a plain mahogany case, with regulator dial and Riefler pendulum - all in perfect condition.
Ignatz Marenzeller (1797-1877) was an extremely gifted Austrian maker who was awarded several prizes for his achievements in his lifetime.
He opened a clock shop in Vienna in 1830 and, as one of the best makers in Vienna, was eventually appointed clockmaker to the court. After his death the company continued to trade in top quality clocks and regulators.
