A decorative precision table regulator with constant force mechanism (remontoir), pin wheel escapement and 8-day power reserve
Case: brass, marble base with applied brass plate depicting a scene of Venus, a chariot and a winged putto in relief. Dial: enamel chapter ring. Movm.: brass, 2 barrels, heavy compensation grid-iron pendulum with knife edge suspension, brass pendulum bob with adjusing nut.
Verneuil is known as an outstanding clockmaker and worked in Paris at Rue du Contrat Social around 1806; around 1815 he he worked at Rue Faubourg Saint Martin. He was most famous for his precision table regulators with half seconds’ pendulum such as this one. The quality of Verneuil’s work is extraordinary.
