Breguet, Paris, Movement No. 4211, 433 mm, circa 1863
An astronomical table clock with half hour / hour self strike, visible Brocot escapement and full calendar, barometer, thermometers and moon phase - sold to Baron Meunier at July 14, 1863 for the sum of 475 Francs - with original certificate
Case: black marble. Dial: enamel. Movm.: circular brass full plate movement, 1 hammer / 1 bell, 2 barrels, iron and brass pendulum with compensation device in the pendulum bob.
A heavy, ornamental black marble table clock by Breguet. In addition to the Breguet no. 4211, the clock bears the numbers 23895 24 8 on the movement, 175 on the barometer and 19409 on the calendar mechanism. On the right sits a Celsius mercury thermometer, on the left is a Reaumur scale, which is unfortunately broken. Needs a cleaning.
Jean Albert Claude Jules Meunier, 2nd Baron Meunier (1813-1867) was the oldest son of Napoleon’s general Claude-Marie Meunieur and Laure David, the daughter of famous painter Jacques-Louis David. Meunier was notary and mayor in Lille.
