Lot 340

Cartier à Paris, Movement No. 24351, Case No. 24351/03916/19325, 75 g, 48 mm, circa 1920
An exquisite, ultra-thin platinum hunting case pocket watch
Case: platinum, polished, engraved monogram "KBL". Dial: silvered. Movm.: bridge movement "European Watch & Clock Co. Inc. Swiss", screw compensation balance.
This exquisite dress watch has all the typical features that brought Cartier’s monochromatic models to fame in the 1920s. The blued Breguet hands are a splash of colour on the white surface, while the platinum lends a subtle pearly grey hue to the case, corresponding splendidly with the lighter, colder silver shade of the dial. The perfect proportions of the case, the dial with the Roman hours and the steel hands bestow this watch with a glamorous elegance despite its rather glacial appearance.
