An exquisite gold and lacquer snuff box with Japonism decorations
Case: 18k gold, black lacquer and enamel.
Rectangular box with canted corners; sides, base and hinged lid with Japanese-style gold ornamentation on lacquered ground. The lid is decorated with an exotic bird surrounded by flowers and bamboo bushes, the base with a cherry tree in bloom. The gold mountings have exquisite enamel flower scrolls on engraved gold ground.
