A rare pair-cased half quarter repeating verge pocket watch
Case: outer case - silver, gilt, finely pierced and engraved scroll decorated band. The back with flowers in three-colour gold on a sablé ground, case maker's punch mark "TC", London hallmark of 1787. Inner case - silver, gilt, finely pierced and engraved flower decorated band, rear bell. Dial: gilt, champlevé. Movm.: fine full plate movement, chain/fusee, 2 hammers, three-arm brass balance.
According to Brian Loomes, watchmaker Samuel Aris worked in Cranbourne Street, Westminster, 1743-1749.
