Lot 277

A collection of three ship's chronometers and seven watchmaker tools
Ulysse Nardin, Locle Suisse, Movement No. 618, inventory no. 60359-CI, 187 x 190 x 185 mm, circa 1910
A ship's chronometer with 56h power reserve - the watch was adjusted by Auguste Rochat and took part in the chronometer tests at Neuchâtel in 1914-15 - with extract from the chronometer archives by Andreas Hidding. Sold on October 23, 1915 to Teófilo Dartigues in Buenos Aires.
Case: mahogany. Dial: silvered. Movm.: brass movement, chain/fusee, spring detent escapement according to Thomas Earnshaw, bimetallic chronometer balance with 2 screws and 4 weights.
Not your everyday mixed lot: The beautiful chronometer by Ulysse Nardin is accompanied by another of the same brand as well as by a huge 8-day chronometer made by Joseph Sewill of Liverpool that comes in a large, velvet-lined wooden box. There are also seven wonderful horological tools with four mandrils among them - unfortunately they are slightly tarnished by some rust stains, but some gentle care should be able to remove those with no problem.
