An early Danish pocket watch with cylinder escapement
Case: 18k gold, case maker's punch mark "FF" (jeweller to the court Fridrich Fabritius, 1740-1829). Dial: enamel. Movm.: full plate movement, chain/fusee, three-arm brass balance.
Jörgen Jürgensen (1748-1811) was the father of the renowned watchmaker Urban Juergensen; he started a watchmaking factory in Kopenhagen in 1775 and went into partnership with Isaac Larpent in 1780. From then on the company operated under the name "Larpent & Jürgensen" in Roskilde.
