An as new verge pocket watch in a triple case for the Ottoman market made by a "maker of great repute" (G.H. Baillie)
Cases: transport case - silver, applied shagreen with stud decoration. Outer case - silver, engraved edges, watch paper by Isaac Rogers, large lateral hinge. Inner case - silver, polished. Dial: enamel, radial Ottoman numerals, gold "Poker & Beetle" hands. Movm.: fine full plate movement, keywind, frosted, gilt, applied engraved ornaments, signed, chain/fusee, moulded movement pillars, three-arm steel balance, very finely florally engraved and pierced balance cock with vase decoration.
Isaac Rogers (1754-1839)
Isaac Rogers was a renowned watchmaker who was mainly known for the high quality watches he produced for the Islamic market watches; he was a master of the London Clockmakers' Company in 1813.
