An unusual gold and enamel oval musical pendant
Case: gold, horizontal oval, front with opaque polychrome enamel medallion with a bouquet of summer flowers on a light-blue ground and champlevé flowers on a black ground; similar decorated turquoise-coloured back side with a glazed cover to insert a picture; the musical pendant is surrounded by a border of filigree gold wire set with turquoises, winding stem, slide to activate the musical movement, short chain. Movm.: miniature movement with pinned barrel and vibrating blades.
A similar piece is illustrated and described in Roy Mosoriak, The Curious History of Music Boxes, 1943, p. 62, pl. 10.
Another musical pendant was sold at Sotheby's in June 2016 for the sum of USD 27.500.
