Patek Philippe & Co. Genève, Movement No. 35148, Case No. 35148, Cal. 25''', 70 mm, 269 g, circa 1868
An oversized Geneva deck watch with 8-day movement - sold on June 29th, 1875. From the same series there are only 24 watches made in total - with Patek Philippe extract from the archives
Case: nickel, silvered. Dial: enamel. Movm.: bridge movement, keywind, hanging barrel, lever escapement, gold screw compensation balance.
This is an extremely rare timepiece made by Patek Philippe. It is fitted with an 8-day movement and an oversize, sturdy case as required for use on board of ships. The Patek Philippe Museum in Geneva owns a watch from the same series with no. 35150. According to the catalogue (Patek Philippe Museum - Patek Philippe Watches - Vol. I, p. 66) only 24 timepieces of this kind were ever produced; most of them were decorated with engraved coats of arms and were purchased by the same customer in Budapest. Only three of these watches - the one we have here, the one in the Patek Philippe Museum and another one - are not engraved.
