A collection of a monstrance clock and a pocket watch

A Historism period monstrance clock with full calendar and moon phase
Case: brass, gilt, silver mountings, garnets, later wooden base. Dial: brass, gilt, silver. Movm.: oval-shaped brass full plate movement, gut/fusee, verge escapement, short pendulum.
Chronos, the personification of time, carries the top part of the "monstrance" clock on his head. The visible side is lavishly decorated with chased silver volute, rocaille and flower scroll ornamentation that is partly open-worked and mounted on a gilt brass plate. The central dial is surrounded by a frame of garnets. The hours are displayed in a small dial at 6, the days of the week and the months in two windows at 9 and 3. The moon phase at 12 is visible in a small circular opening in an engraved brass plate which is surrounded by the date ring.
