A collection of four pocket watches with enamel decoration

A quarter repeating gold enamel verge pocket watch in a triple case for the Ottoman market "The Battle of the Nile"
Cases: 18k gold, polychrome enamel, diamond and gemstone thumbpieces, case maker's punch mark "IM" (Jonah Mince, No. 8 Old Street, London), rear bell. Dial: enamel. Movm.: full plate movement, keywind, chain/fusee, 2 hammers, three-arm steel balance.
The outer and the middle case have wavy rims and Champlevé enamel flowers. The middle case is also decorated with a fine enamel medallion with polychrome painting of three sailing vessels with English and French flags during a battle at sea; drifting planks from the ships are visible in the foreground. The inner case has an open-worked rim and is ornamented with enamelled flower medallions; the back is decorated with polychrome painting of military equipment, nautical instruments and a shield with the Union Flag against a translucent pink-coloured ground with engine-turned pattern.
The Battle of Aboukir Bay, also called The Battle of the Nile, took place in 1798 and was one of the most important battles during the Coalition Wars. The British fleet under Admiral Nelson defeated the French convoy that had previously delivered Napoleon’s army to Egypt.
