Lot 40
Geneva, 21 x 47 mm, 26 g, circa 1910
A fine rose-cut diamond-set gold enamel pendant form watch with concealed dial designed as a scarab
Case: 18k gold and enamel, glazed movement. Dial: enamel. Movm.: bridge movement "LeCoultre", cylinder escapement, three-arm brass balance.
The spring-loaded wings are decorated with translucent green enamel on engine-turned pattern and studded with rose-cut diamonds; the Champlevé style neck is set with diamonds. The head and the hinged belly are realistically chased and engraved, the eyes are represented by two ruby cabochons.
The condition of this scarab is exceptionally good. As these watches were worn as pendants and the opening wings subjected to wear and tear all the time, it is very unusual to find a piece where the enamel has not been restored.
