Isaac Soret & Fils, Movement No. 21872, Case No. 21872, 36 mm, 50 g, circa 1750
An ornamental, small pair case verge pocket watch "à trois couleurs" with enamel decoration, studded with paste stones
Case: outer case - three-colour gold. Inner case - 18K gold. Dial: enamel. Movm.: full plate movement, chain/fusee, three-arm brass balance.
The back of the outer case has a finely matted centre and is embellished with applied foliage scrolls with translucent green enamel leaves. Exquisite petals are partially decorated with brown paste stones to enhance the true-to-life appeal of this piece. The bezel on the front is studded with paste stones and the back has a border of stones and a translucent blue enamel rim with engine-turned pattern.
Isaac Soret was a French/Swiss watchmaker born in Geneva in 1673. Soret and his son David, also a watchmaker, eventually established the company Isaac Soret & Filsand it is likely that Soret’s daughter Susanne also worked with them. Isaac Soret died in Geneva in 1750.
