A rare Schaffhausen hunting case pocket watch in a splendour case for the US American market
Case: 14k gold, florally engraved, engine-turned, case maker's punch mark: International Watch Co.. Dial: enamel. Movm.: 2/3 plate movement, screw compensation balance.
The first movements (or calibres) produced by Florence A. Jones, the American founder of IWC International Watch Co. in Schaffhausen were also named after him. They are roughly split in three types - key wind, lépine and hunter case. They are also distinguished by the letters on the plates that indicate the number of jewels, the quality of the components used and the final configuration. The long index is typical for all of Jones’ movements.
