Alliez & Berguer à Genève, Case No. 153, 83 x 24 mm, circa 1840
An elegant, diamond-set gold enamel lorgnette with concealed watch
Case: gold and enamel. Dial: enamel. Movm.: bridge movement, cylinder escapement.
The folded lorgnette is released by a pusher in the band. The case is finely engraved on both sides with scrolled foliage. The front with hinged watch cover overlaid with translucent cobalt blue enamel over engine-turned ground, centered with a diamond-set spray of grain spikes.
Swiss watch manufactory Alliez & Berguer was based in Geneva around 1840. The company produced high quality watches, repeater watches and watches with Lépine-style ruby cylinder movements.
