A magnificent Baroque table clock with quarter hour/hour self strike
Case: firegilt, with applied appliques. Dial: enamel, lever for "Schlägt/Schlägt nit". Movm.: brass movement, lavishly foliate decor engravings, 3 x chain/fusee, 2 hammers / 2 bells, verge escapement, brass pendulum.
Johan De Lucca (1697-1753) was an excellent clockmaker in Vienna; he became a master in 1739 and was granted the freedom of the city in 1749. A bracket clock by De Lucca can be viewed at the Clock Museum in Vienna.
