Case: brass, gilt, lavishly florally hand-engraved, facet glazed on all sides. Dial: enamel. Movm.: rectangular-shaped brass movement, chain/fusee, 2 barrels, 2 hammers / 2 bells, club-tooth lever escapement, blued helical balance spring, screw compensation balance.
This travel clock with one month power reserve by Breguet's pupil Charles Coüet weights nearly 4 kilos; the gilt case is exquisitely engraved and finished - even the open-work base plate is a fine piece of workmanship. The precision movement was certainly created with a view to aesthetics.
