An exquisite gold enamel snuff box "Archimedes"
Case: gold and opaque enamel, maker's punch mark most probably "FJ" (nearly illegible) between sunrays.
Rectangular case with cut corners, all-over black enamelled, the hinged lid with a polychrome miniature painting of Archimedes at work on the walls of Syracuse, within a half pearl-set border. The cover and the base with gold vine leaf Champlevé panels. The base with a centred Champlevé laurel wreath.
