Omega "Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch Apollo-Soyuz 25th Anniversary", Case No. 77043069, Ref. 319.55.900, Cal. 1863, 42 mm, circa 2000
A gentleman's almost as new, extremely rare and heavy (207 g!) wristwatch with chronograph - with original box, operating instructions, certificate and guarantee card - Limited edition no. 28 of 50 pieces in 18k gold - made especially to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the historical hand-shake during Apollo- Soyuz mission on July 17, 1975.
Case: 18k gold, screwed on back, engraving: "28/50 25th Anniversary Apollo Soyuz" and Speedmaster logo, black and gold tachy bezel, anti-magnetic protection cap, original massive 18k gold bracelet with deployant clasp. Dial: black, applied gold indexes, auxiliary seconds, 30 min. and 12h counter, signed, luminous baton hands. Movm.: 2/3 plate movement, pink gilt, ground, 17 jewels, finely ground, bevelled chronograph steel parts, Glucydur balance, shock protection for balance, cam type fine adjusting device.
On July 15, 1975 Soyuz 19 is launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome. Apollo 18 is launched in pursuit two days later. From opposite sides of the docking hatch two men appear, Lt. Gen. Thomas P. Stafford (USA) and Lt. Gen. Alexei A. Leonov (Russia), each wearing the same watch: The Omega Speedmaster Professional.
