A rare travel thermometer of historical interest
Case: silver, engine-turned pattern. Dial: silver, Arabic numerals, signed, central engine-turned pattern, helical gold spring, outer centigrade scale, inner Réaumur temperature scale with: "Congélation du Mercure" (freezing point of mercury), "Glace" (freezing point of water), "Tempéré" (moderate) und "Eau Bouillante" (boiling point of water).
Klemens Wenzel Lothar von Metternich (1773-1859)
Prince von Metternich was a politician and statesman of Rhenish extraction and one of the most important diplomats of his era, serving as the Austrian Empire's Foreign Minister from 1809 and Chancellor from 1821 until the liberal revolutions of 1848 forced his resignation.
