A decorative French hour repeating carriage clock with half hour/hour strike and alarm: "Love and Affection"
Case: bronze, gilt, moulded, oval, light-blue porcelain panels with fine polychrome paintings of pastoral scenes: sides with gallant scenes, hinged back cover with a young girl reading a love letter. Front and upper part with faceted glass panes, waved handle. Dial: porcelain, light-blue ground, white cartouches with radial Roman hours, two winged Cupids in the centre, small chapter ring with Arabic numerals for alarm, flanked by a loving couple in a romantic landscape, gold spade hands. Movm.: rectangular-shaped brass movement, keywind, 2 hammers / 1 gong, solid circular movement pillars, 8-day power reserve, 3 barrels for going train, hour strike and alarm, platform with lateral lever escapement, screw compensation balance.
