A gentleman's early Geneva pocket watch with a rare winding mechanism, sold on 10/12/1883 - with Patek Philippe extract from the archives
Case: silver, engine-turned, case design "pomme et filet", reeded band, gold crown, hinge and shackle. Dial: enamel, radial Roman hours, auxiliary seconds, blued spade hands. Movm.: 2/3 plate movement, frosted, gilt, applied winding mechanism with wolfteeth winding wheel, screw compensation balance, counterpoised "Moustache" lever.
According to a 1980 statement by Patek Philippe the watch was fitted with a feather key for the barrel even though this has not been not recorded in the books. The improved system was one of the inventions of Adrien Philippe and was patented by him around 1880.
