A rare hunting case pocket watch with split seconds chronograph
Case: 18k gold, polished, engraved monogram, inner lid with presentation engraving: "A Rodolfo P. Peracca Las Empresas Petroleras Lottero, Papini Y Cia. Condor S.A.P.A. Ragor S.A. 1948", signed gold dome, pusher for chronograph at "12 and 2". Dial: enamel, Arabic numerals, auxiliary seconds at "9", 30 min. counter at "3", blued spade hands. Movm.: 2/3 plate movement, rhodium-plated, "fausses côtes" decoration, signed, very finely ground and bevelled chronograph steel parts, ratchet wheel, "Swiss Patent 54714", screw compensation balance, index spring fine adjusting device.
Rodolfo P. Peracca
Peracca was an Argentine businessman who had close ties to London. He offered to do for Brazil what he had already done for Uruguay in 1934; he would have a government refinery built, train the staff himself, and supply the crude oil from independent sources.
