A heavy "à toc" half quarter repeating pair-cased precision pocket watch with spring detent escapement according to Earnshaw
Case: outer case - 18K pink gold, polished, tiered, à goutte. Inner case - 18K pink gold, polished, case maker punch mark "WW". Dial: enamel, radial Roman hours, auxiliary seconds, signed, numbered, blued steel "Poker & Beetle" hands. Movm.: full plate movement, keywind, frosted, gilt, signed, chain/fusee with "Harrison's maintaining power", moulded pillars, spring detent escapement, Pennington's auxiliary compensation balance, freesprung helical blued balance spring, fine engraved balance cock, set diamond endstone on balance, chatoned sapphire endstone on chronometer wheel.
Paul Philip Barraud
Barraud was famous for his chronometers; he became a Fellow of the Clockmakers' Company (17-1813) and a Master (1810-1811). In 1838 he started a partnership with John Richard Lund, who took over the company after Barraud's death.
