A gentleman's as new pocket watch with Jacot's patented seesaw winding mechanism
Case: 18k gold, engine-turned, engine-turned band, engine-turned, numbered and signed gold dome. Dial: enamel, radial Roman hours, auxiliary seconds, signed, gold hands with blued tips. Movm.: half plate movement, patented movement construction, nickel-plated, stripe-decorated, screwed gold chatons, "Patents Sept. 64, Nov. 67, Avr. 70", gold screw compensation balance, counterpoised lever.
Charles Edouard Jacot des Combes (1817-1897)
He had a reputation as specialist in the field of escapements; the renowned innovator worked in Switzerland after having worked and researched in his uncle's factory in the United States for 20 years. His most influential and most commonly used patent was the "Jacot duplex escapement" (also known as the Chinese duplex escapement).
