A very fine lever chronometer for the American market
Case: 18k gold, engine-turned, reeded, on the back a floral ornament, the front with depiction of a farm house with millwheel, engine-turned gold dome signed: "H.L. Matile, Locle, 1058, Chronometer, 21 fine Rubies", providing depictions of animals. Dial: enamel, radial Roman hours, red Arabic minutes, auxiliary seconds with radial red Arabic numerals, signed "Bartens & Rice, New York", blued "Fleur de Lys" hands. Movm.: bridge movement, nickel-plated, "fausses côtes" decoration, screwed gold chatons, wolfteeth winding wheels, pink gold train, gold screw compensation balance, blued balance spring with terminal curve, filigree mirror polished steel balance cock, gold escape wheel, special counterpoised lever.
