An unusual pocket chronometer/masterpiece in a richly decorated silver case
Case: silver, lavishly engraved fowling scene, monogram "AS", dome with engraving: "Specialität in Remontoirs, Chronometer No. 1, gebaut von Carl Sonderwald, Linz a/D., 1893", glazed movement, gold pendant and crown. Dial: enamel, Arabic hours, auxiliary seconds, blued spade hands. Movm.: steel bridge movement, decorated, screwed gold chatons, freesprung helical balance spring, pivoted detent escapement, gold screw compensation balance.
Most likely this watch was the masterpiece of Carl Sonderwald, who was born in 1868 in Neulengbach near Vienna. From 1887 on Sonderwald worked in Linz; he died in Linz in 1947.
