Charles Oudin, Palais Royal No. 52, Paris, 52 mm, 118 g, circa 1880
A double-dialed hunting case pocket watch with two time zone indication
Case: 18k gold, tiered, à goutte. Dial: Front - enamel, radial Roman hours, auxiliary seconds, signed, gold spade hands. Back side - enamel chapter ring with Arabic numerals, skeletonized centre, blued spade hands. Movm.: bridge movement, frosted, gilt, signed, gold screw compensation balance, counterpoised lever.
Charles Oudin (1772-1825)
Oudin was a pupil of Abraham-Louis Breguet and one of his best masters. Oudin started his own business in Paris and was appointed watchmaker to the Russian tsar; he became famous for designing a keyless wind. His son Charles Raymond continued the business after his father's death in 1836.
