A precision pocket watch with English lever escapement
Case: 18k gold, engraved monogram, engraved raptor and motto "Altiora Peto" ("I seek higher things"), gold dome, case maker's punch mark "JW" (Joseph Walton). Dial: enamel, radial Roman hours, auxiliary seconds, signed, numbered, blued spade hands. Movm.: 3/4 plate movement, keywind, signed, gilt, chain/fusee, gold screw compensation balance, freesprung blued balance spring.
Paul Philip Barraud
Barraud was famous for his chronometers; he was a Fellow of the Clockmakers Company (1796-1813) and a Master (1810/1811). In 1838 he started a partnership with John Richard Lund, who took over the company after Barraud's death.
