A very attractive, rare, red gold vintage wrist chronometer
Sold
With its beautifully designed two-colour dial, applied gold hour markers in the form of Arabic numerals and gold cabochons, the elegantly curved leaf hands, and the blued small-seconds hand, this wrist chronometer is a true eye-catcher. The warm, shimmering red-gold case gives it a heightened presence. Due to the clean proportions, slender lugs, and period-typical size, it is still perfectly authentic and timeless today.
The watch is powered by the Omega calibre 30T2, which was introduced in 1938 – a remarkable, adaptable base movement that was produced in various versions until 1963. Among collectors, these movements are considered the epitome of robust and precise hand-wound mechanics. Although it measures only 30 mm in diameter, it is engineered to allow the largest possible balance wheel and mainspring barrel. Due to its quality and reliability, the British government ordered more than 110,000 units during the Second World War.
Reference 2366 is not a loud watch - it draws its appeal from proportion, material, and substance. In red gold, it develops a particular warmth that subtly distinguishes it from yellow-gold variants. It combines historical authenticity, technical integrity, and the quiet elegance that was typical for the finest dress watches of the 1940s. Especially in original condition, with an untouched dial and correct movement, the Omega Reference 2366 in red gold ranks among the most interesting discoveries in the vintage segment.
