The Patek Philippe Annual Calendar reference 5205 was first launched in 2010. It was offered in 18 K white gold with a two-tone dial, which was originally available in two variants, in rhodium/silver grey and black/slate grey such as this piece. Both colour schemes were discontinued and replaced by a dial in blue gently shading to black in 2018. Reference 5205 is easily recognizable by its three apertures along an arc for displaying the day of the week, the date and the month instead of the more commonly used subsidiary dials for the annual calendar. This technical sophistication is complemented by a discreet moon phase display at 6 o'clock, surrounded by a 24-hour indication. The design of the dial is sportive and modern, not least because of the vibrant dauphine hands and the oversize white gold hours. Inside the watch beats the automatic calibre 324 S QA LU 24H/206; its precision and fine finishing is visible through the sapphire crystal case back. The 40 mm case in 18 K white gold is distinguished by its concave bezel and characteristic delicately pierced lugs, an architectural detail that lends the watch lightness and an unmistakable presence. This watch is rarely offered on the market and is furthermore hardly worn!
