On occasion of the 40th anniversary of the El Primero movement, 500 examples of this Zenith "El Primero Original Vintage 1969" with reference 03.1969.469 from the "The Originals" line were produced.
With the caliber 3019 PHC introduced in 1969, the El Primero belonged to the prestigious range of the first automatic high-frequency chronographs and laid the foundation for the entire El Primero family of movements.
The design of this watch pays homage to one of the first timepieces equipped with the El Primero caliber 3019 PHC - reference A386, featuring a silvered dial and tri-colored chronograph subdials in beige, blue, and brown, a red paddle-shaped chronograph hand, and a black decimal scale. Unlike reference A386 launched in 1969, the “Original Vintage 1969” has a tonneau-shaped stainless steel case styled in the period’s contemporary taste. The watch measures 40 mm in diameter. Like its predecessor, it features large chronograph pushers and an original crown bearing the Zenith star. Inside beats the El Primero caliber 469, a successor to Zenith’s high-beat caliber 3019 PHC with automatic winding and a frequency of 36,000 half-beats per hour.
