LonginesFly-back
A very attractive, anti-magnetic vintage fly-back wrist chronograph in practically new condition, with blue tachy- and red telemeter scale in km/h, sold in April 1972
In 1947 Longines launched its calibre 30CH as a successor to the legendary calibre 13ZN of 1936, which was the first flyback chronograph wristwatch ever, allowing the chronograph to be reset while running, insuring precision timing since the pilot did not have to start-stop-reset; calibre 30CH is considered to be the finest and most beautiful chronograph movement of all times by many.
It must be noted that this is the last calibre ever created by Longines themselves; even though Longines continued producing outstanding chronographs for many decades, the calibres used came from other manufacturers.
This chronograph fitted with the well-tried flyback chronograph movement 30CH, reference 7413, is a prime example of the outstanding quality of the Longines chronographs. Today the 38 mm case meets the contemporary taste. In our opinion it has never been polished and shows sharp angles and bevels. The downward-sloping lugs lend the watch a strong presence on the wrist. A blue tachymeter scale and a red telemeter scale with a rare kilometer display, the gold hourglass logo as well as the gold baton hands grant the otherwise monochrome silver dial with a sunburst pattern an essential edgy sophistication.
