Patek Philippe’s reference 1588 is a rare and elegant timepiece dating from the mid 1940s. Its refined Art déco aesthetics embodies Patek Philippe’s timeless sophistication and supreme craftsmanship. Production ran from 1944 up until 1955. The 18 K pink gold square case resembles a curved cornice when viewed from the side. The well-balanced proportions of the watch make for supreme wearing comfort. The minimalist yet sophisticated dial design includes gold arrow indexes and bar hands, as well as enamelled writing. Inside runs the square, reliable manual-wound movement 9'''90, which Patek Philippe regularly used for most of their wristwatches of that period.
To the best of our knowledge only approx. 30 examples were so far presented at auctions; among those less than 10 had a pink gold dial such as this watch.
