Even today, Heuer is still a "go-to" brand when it comes to timekeeping, particularly in the field of sports or in the automobile and aviation industries. Over the years, Heuer have launched many chronographs in many different variations and were the first Swiss company to undertake serial production of chronographs.
This wrist chronograph is regarded as predecessor of the Heuer "Carrera". It boasts numerous attractive details such as the breathtaking glossy black dial with large subdials ornamented with a fine guilloche pattern, which inspired the watch’s nickname "Big Eyes". The carefully designed tachymeter and telemeter scale on the outer edge lends the watch a sportive appeal and allows the wearer exact measurement of speed and distance, which is much appreciated by racing drivers and pilots. All displays including the luminous numerals and hands were designed for use as “tool watch“.
The robust, water-resistant 35 mm stainless-steel case with round pushers and screw back houses the reliable hand-wound mechanical chronograph movement calibre Landeron 13, which is famous for its accuracy and long-life cycle.
Unworn watches dating from the 1940s hardly ever come on the market today. The large totalizers as well as the overall design of the dial present a well-balanced and handsome beauty and make this timepiece a magnificent find for collectors and lovers of traditional timepieces.
