Vacheron ConstantinHistoriques Toledo
A charismatic Geneva wristwatch with full calendar and moon phase
Sold
Vacheron Constantin launched this model as a reissue of reference 6440 "Toledo" dating from 1952 and part of their "Historiques" range in 2003. The Toledo is often affectionately called "Cioccolatone", which in Italian means "large piece of chocolate". It is inspired by the rounded, curved angles and the stepped levels of the case. The beautiful design makes this watch a highly coveted classic piece. The case has a concave midsection and is gently domed. The crown with the typical Maltese cross is set back a little. The two-colour silvered dial features a fine central guilloche pattern, applied block hour markers and Arabic numerals. Hour and minute hand are mirror-polished tube pointers. The dial features a moon phase display, a triple calendar and a pointer date. Inside operates automatic calibre 1125, a JLC base calibre 891 with a moon phase function. The watch also comes with a stop seconds function, which is highly unusual for a Vacheron Constantin timepiece dating from the beginning of the millenium.
