DoxaAnti Magnetique
A rare, antimagnetic vintage military pilot's chronograph with "snail tachymeter scale"
The Doxa brand is mainly associated with elegant wristwatches or robust divers’ watches with orange-coloured dials. In the 1940s, however, the brand, which was established in 1889 by Georges Ducommun in the Swiss Jura, produced watches for the military too, among them this wrist chronograph. The watch is powered by the famous Valjoux 22 movement, which was also used by other renowned makers; it was in production for 60 years, from 1914 to 1974.
The original black dial shows a classic layout with two subdials and a central spiralling tachymeter scale. The overall condition is excellent; the steel case, which features distinctive down-turned integrated lugs, is almost flawless, while the dial shows some signs of age. The chronograph movement is also unusually well preserved and starts up immediately.
