This remarkable variant of the legendary Submariner was launched in 2008 and differs from the steel versions with its solid 18 K white gold case and the distinctive blue dial with matching bezel. Because of this particular colour, collectors often refer to the watch as "Smurf".
116619LB remains faithful to its Submariner origins, yet adds a particularly prestigious note to the classic design. The 40 mm 18 K white gold case lends the watch not only a special haptic feel but also a magnificent exclusive appeal. Even though, the watch remains a true "tool watch" that is water resistant to a depth of 300 metres, which is perfect for divers and adventurers, who set value on luxury.
The bright blue dial creates a fascinating contrast to the cool white gold. Indexes and hands have a Chromalight luminous coat, which guarantees perfect readability in any light. The revolving Cerachrom bezel in a matching blue colour is not only a visual highlight but also extremely scratch-proof and resistant against UV and salt-water.
116619LB is powered by tried and tested Rolex calibre 3135, a robust and accurate automatic movement with date and chronometer certification. The production of 116619LB was discontinued in 2020 after over a decade in the Rolex range – today the model is a much-coveted collector’s piece. Its successor 126619LB retains the white gold case but comes with a black dial, making the "Smurf" with its one-of-a-kind-blue look even more exclusive.
This Submariner reference 116619LB has never been worn; it was purchased from Hollfelder jewellers in 2010 and spent the last 15 years in a safe. It comes with a guarantee card in a green Rolex card case which bears the country code 100 for Germany. The watch also comes with original case, user instructions, booklet, Rolex sales tag and Rolex seal hang tag.
