In search of a classic gold Rolex watch the customer had the choice of the Day-Date and the Datejust. Despite the higher price, the Day-Date turned out to be the preferred choice. Consequently the number of available gold Datejust watches is now considerably smaller.
This reference 16238 represents the classic Datejust version. The 36 mm Oyster case and the matching grooved bezel are made of 18 K yellow gold. The 18 K gold "Jubilee" bracelet is in excellent condition and perfects the appearance of this model. The warm hue of the yellow gold creates a beautiful contrast to the champagne-coloured pyramid dial with 18 K yellow gold Roman numerals and gold baton hands, all without any luminous material. The watch is in excellent condition. The movement is already powered by the improved automatic calibre 3135, which stands out due to its extreme robustness and reliability, so that Rolex waited a full 30 years to finally launch a successor to the 3135 in 2019.
