To activate the repeater, the pusher at 4 o’clock must be pressed while turning the crown. If the crown is turned forward, the repeater strikes the hours. If the pusher is released, then pressed again while turning the crown in the opposite direction, the repeater strikes the quarter hours. Thus the watch can be operated independently, so that it only strikes the hours, the quarter hours or both.
