This beautiful Augsburg plate clock (Telleruhr) features a magnificent central ornamentation of intricately engraved tulips and daffodils on the dial. A long gilt openwork hand with floral engraving displays the minutes while an exquisitely curved iron hand indicates the hours.
According to Jürgen Abeler's records, Christoph Müller, also Miller, was born in Augsburg in 1620. He is listed as an independent clockmaker from 1643. He died after 1651. Numerous works by Müller are known, including a lion automaton clock.
