Brass, remains of firegilding, baroque acanthus and volute engravings as well as hunting scenes and city views on all sides, rear bell, owner's engraving, flintlock for spark generation, candle holder, separate alarm mechanism.

At the end of the alarm sound the trigger activates and lights the powder on the flash pan, thus transferring a spark to the candlewick. The glowing wick then raises on its own.


For many years this table clock was part of Dr. Bodong’s collection. After his death it was sold during an auction at Hans W. Lange in Berlin on July 14 and 15, 1938 (lot no. 578).
Beham (Behaimb, Böheimb, Böhm) Jakob, Vienna, 2nd half of the 17th century, watchmaker 1670, master in 1677, mentioned in Haarhof 1681.
Known work: alarm clock with candlewick ignition (Bodong Collection), ball gravity clock, table clock 1/4 strike, bracket clock circa 1690.
