Cornelis Woudenbergh (Woudenberg) was born in 1676 in Sparendam in the province of North Holland. He settled in Amsterdam as a maker of watches and clocks. In 1702 he married Barbera Gesner, the daughter of Johannes Jakob Gessner of Zurich. Cornelis and Barbera had four children. His Amsterdam grandfather clocks were signed "Gesner & Woudenbergh". A second pocket watch signed "Gesner & Woudenbergh" is in the collection of the Museum Het Princessehof in Leeuwarden. Cornelis Woudenbergh died in October 1711.
