<br>Die 1864 im nordwestlich von Chicago gelegenen Elgin gegründete Uhrenfabrik National Watch Co. entwickelte sich zu dem neben der Waltham Watch Co. größten Hersteller von Qualitätsuhren. Seit 1874 unter dem Namen Elgin National Watch Co. bestand sie bis ins Jahr 1964 und stellte bis dahin rund 50 Millionen Uhren her.

<br>The National Watch Co. was founded in 1864 in Elgin, northwest of Chicago and became the most important maker of quality watches alongside the Hamilton Watch Co. In 1874 the company name changed to Elgin National Watch Co.; the firm was in business until 1964, having by then produced about 50 million watches.
